About VB Law Group

Our History

Attorney Carlos Vinoly founded VB Law Group in 2025 after being an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Christopher Lauria who was his Civil Procedure professor at People’s College of Law (PCL) in Downtown Los Angeles.

Mr. Lauria has mentored Mr. Vinoly through law school, then when Mr. Vinoly started as an associate attorney in his law firm and continues to mentor him. They met through Workers’ Comp. circles even though when they met, Mr. Lauria was already a retired WCAB’s judge.

Mr. Vinoly started VB Law Group to continue Mr. Lauria’s legacy in helping minorities, especially the Latino community in Los Angeles to have a better shot into the access to justice in our judicial system. He is a native speaker of the Spanish language, and he also speaks fluent Portuguese.

PCL was founded and sponsored by the National Lawyers Guild (NLG) approximately in 1974, and the concept was simple “minorities are underrepresented in our legal/justice system, and by creating “people’s lawyers” (“PLs”) these minorities will have a better chance of a fair and competent representation and access to justice in Los Angeles, in this state, and cumulative in this country.

In Mr. Vinoly’s opinion, and in the following order, this is a short list of PCL's most illustrious alumni with remarkable achievements in politics, journalism, and activism:

1)      Antonio Villaraigosa (former two consecutive terms Mayor of the City of Los Angeles)

2)     Maria Elena Durazo (California State Senator)

3)     Gilbert Cedillo (former State Senator and City of Los Angeles council member);

4)     Merle C. Rabine (former Chairman of the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board)

5)     Jeff Cohen (commentator for Fox News Watch, MSNBC, and CNN)

6)     Ilka Tanya Payan (former AIDS activist, former New York Human Rights Commissioner)

7)     Lorraine Fontana (lesbian activist and founder of the Atlanta Lesbian Feminist Alliance).

Mr. Vinoly has 16 years of experience as a paralegal in Workers’ Compensation law, he has worked on and off as a Hollywood background actor [movies, “Water for Elephants”, “Argo”, “The Vice”, Adam Sandler’s movies, “Just go with it”, “Jack and Jill”; TV/Cable “Glee”, “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Let’s make a Deal” “CSI”, “Judge Judy”, “Hot Bench”; music videos, “Sober” [G-Eazy - Sober (Official Video) ft. Charlie Puth].

Mr. Bamberger (see below) morally and sometimes financially supported him all the way till he passed the bar exam and became a California lawyer like him, and his father Mr. Max Bamberger did in Los Angeles, CA.

In June, 2023, Mr. Vinoly was admitted to the State Bar of California.

He started VB Law Group to continue the Legacy of Mr. Lauria as well as the main purpose of PCL, to give minorities a better and more fair access to justice in this country.

In general, Mr. Vinoly has represented and continues to represent the Immigrant community in Los Angeles, especially the Latino community, the LGBT community, and other minorities in the city of Angels.

Mr. Vinoly other interests during his free time are: playing tennis, music, traveling, aviation, windsurfing, and boating.
